Chief instructor awarded his 7th Dan

Well I certainly wasn’t expecting this little surprise last night, and for those who were in the Marlborough session when I was awarded this, you would have seen the shock on my face when I received it.

Martial arts has been a way of life for me for around 35 years, and I have been teaching these classes around 27 years, so to be awarded my 7th Dan black belt in kickboxing last night from the Cobra martial arts association feels like the ultimate honour, and I was genuinely shocked and taken by surprise at this award.

I completed my 1st Dan black belt back in 1998, 28 years ago and have loved every minute of my journey to date, and I hope I have many more years ahead of me.

I also can not thank the dedicated team of instructors we have at IMA, and without them we wouldn’t be the club we are today.

I have to thank Eiros Pike, Julian Pike and Jake Evans for their little surprise, and I am genuinely honoured to have been presented this by them all.

Also, Andrew Morrell, the head of the Cobra Martial Arts Association – CMAA for this award and who I can’t thank enough for all of the help and support he gives me and us as a club.

And lastly everyone who trains with us or has trained with us in the past, thank you for helping shape us into what we are today.
