Impact martial arts used to be part of a great group in the UK called the International alliance of martial arts schools or IAOMAS for short.
The International Alliance Of Martial Arts Schools is a student support system, the co-operation of Martial Arts schools worldwide to allow all martial arts students to continue to train wherever they go (ie. On holiday, vacation, work etc.). Its good for all students involved (through the club) & good for instructors to be able to offer training where-ever their students are in the world.
The group was run by Mr Stuart Anslow at Rayners lane TKD
The main purpose of the group was to allow martial artists to train together anywhere their travels took them, and we also did a few seminars together where multiple martial arts practitioners from around the world took a segment from that seminar and we all tried out that style.
The first ever IAOMAS Seminar took place on the 9th November 2003 in South Harrow and some of the team from Impact martial arts travelled to the club to take part and teach a segment.

“The final teaching segment of the seminar was taken by Wayne Timlin (2nd Dan Thai & Kick Boxing).
Wayne started off by taking everyone through Muay Thai’s devastating low kicks, utilizing the shin as the weapon. This was followed by some great low kick counters, which involved over stepping the kick, rather than taking it straight on, using the arms for higher kicks & utilizing a take down on the kick. Following this Wayne demonstrated knee kicks, again followed by their counters including a nice little takedown on a knee kick. Wayne concluded his section with powerful elbow strikes & forearm smashes.”
The chief instructor of Impact martial arts was a 2nd Dan black belt when teaching at this event back in 2003, and a lot of time has passed and hopefully lots more knowledge gained since then.
All round it was a great day, we met loads of super experienced instructors and we all learnt something new.
