Yes, really.
I have recently had a new student who has come along to join us, as the club they were attending has a structure which allows students training there to become instructors after a few months.
Now I know this is absolutely ridiculous and hard to believe, but these Mc Dojo’s pop up and fool people to believe they are actually really instructors.
The person in question had been training there for over a year and earned multiple belts and was at a reasonable standard, the Mc Dojo in question then put in a new instructor who had only been there a few months and was 4 belts lower than the student that joined us. The reason this happens is all about money, and they are charging thousands for this instructor training which is absolutely worthless.
Instructors can NOT be anything lower than black belt, and without proof of a black belt, no insurance company will touch them, meaning nobody at that club is insured, and they will also NOT have things like DBS checks done.
How can someone training for a few months teach skills to people in the club who have been training there longer and are more experienced?
This may all sound far fetched, but it’s 100% true, and in reality a complete joke, as everything is watered down and the skill level gets worse and worse.
This is all about money and nothing to do with teaching people valuable skills that they one day may need.
Check out our page on instructor standards if you want to know how we ensure all our instructors and experienced and qualified for what they do.
At impact martial arts Marlborough and Tidworth, we teach kickboxing with trained and qualified instructors, and believe this really matters when it comes to teaching others.
